A group of burglars from the ‘Los Barba’ gang met their match when they attempted to storm the home of a retired military sergeant in Totolac, Mexico. Surveillance footage shows the gang members, led by 23-year-old Jonathan, approaching the sergeant’s home and opening fire on July 24. However, the sergeant, a military veteran, was prepared and returned fire, hitting Jonathan and sending the gang members fleeing.
The footage shows the gang members running away from the scene, while Jonathan is left wounded and later loaded into an SUV by family members to be taken to a hospital. According to reports, the shooting was sparked by an argument between the sergeant and the gang members at a local store, which escalated into a violent confrontation.
Jonathan remains hospitalized in serious condition. The incident highlights the bravery and quick thinking of the retired military sergeant, who defended his home against the armed gang members. The Tlaxcala State Attorney General’s Office has been contacted for comment on the incident.
