In a game that tested their resilience, the Houston Texans emerged victorious over the Chicago Bears with a final score of 19-13 on Sunday night. The Texans’ defense delivered a standout performance, particularly in the second half, to secure the win despite an offense that struggled to find its rhythm after halftime.

Rookie quarterback Caleb Williams faced significant pressure from the Texans’ defensive line, led but Will Anderson Jr., who notched 1.5 sacks. The Texans capitalized on this pressure by intercepting Williams twice in the second half. Houston’s defense kept Williams and the Bears in check, limiting them to just 174 passing yards and sacking the rookie seven times throughout the game.

Offensively, C.J. Stroud threw for 260 yards and one touchdown, connecting with Nico Collins on a 28-yard scoring pass in the second quarter. Collins had another impressive game, racking up 135 receiving yards. However, it was Ka’imi Fairbairn who played a crucial role in the Texans’ win. Fairbairn kicked four field goals from distances of 56, 47, 59, and 53 yards, becoming the first player in NFL history with five or more field goals of at least 50 yards in a two-game span.

Despite a fumble by Cam Akers on the Chicago 4-yard line late in the game, which led to a 54-yard field goal by Cairo Santos, the Texans’ defense held firm. Danielle Hunter’s sack of Williams on a crucial second down and an incomplete pass on fourth down allowed Houston to run out the clock and secure the victory.

Bears’ coach Matt Eberflus acknowledged the learning opportunities for Williams, noting the need for better ball security under pressure. Despite the loss, the Bears will look to regroup as they prepare for their upcoming game against the Indianapolis Colts.
